WOMAN TO WOMAN KNIGHT ERRANT FOR 2008

At our Benefactors Night Thank You Dinner on October 28, Marion McAndrew was presented a large floral centerpiece created just for her by Little Flower Florals and Woman to Woman’s first annual framed Knight Errant Award for her dedicated, eleven years of service as a crisis pregnancy advisor at Woman to Woman Support Network. Here is the text of Marion’s Award:

The Knights of Errantry

The Knights of Errantry is not an organization. It is an apostolate that began 25 years, Sept 8th, on the feast of the Birth of Our Blessed Mother. Its purpose is to recognize the unsung and unknown men and women who are giving of themselves in the service of the Church without counting the cost or asking for any reward. It is also meant to reach out to people who are disillusioned with world events and organizations, men and women who have the desire to help others, but are without the wherewithal to do it on their own. The Knight Errant gives them a purpose and a code of conduct of support, and the encouragement to persevere in their quest to do good and make a difference as a Knight at Large. The prayer "I Will Serve" is their oath of honor.

I WILL SERVE

Lord, I will serve as a True and Chivalric Knight. By the Power of Your Grace, I will defend the right to life for all people, born and unborn, help and protect the innocent who are violated, abused, and neglected, comfort those in despair, and seek justice for all.

Woman to Woman Support Network awards our first Knight Errant Award to Marion McAndrews for her consistent support of life. Marion has consistently supported our work and fund raisers in many different capacities from working at them to donating to them to promoting them among others. Even more important, for the past eleven years since Woman to Woman opened its office in Middletown, Marion has worked as a volunteer advisor for Woman to Woman Support Network. Only God knows how many distraught mothers she helped, how many babies’ lives she saved, and how many people have benefited from her prayers and from the prayers of others whom she asked to pray. Because Marion is a quiet woman of faith who goes about doing good for all, without seeking recognition, we believe she is worthy to be granted the Woman to Woman Support Network Knight Errant Award for 2008. Congratulations, Marion, and thank you for all you do and are!

Marion’s Thanks--Dear Friends. What a surprise! Totally unexpected! I wish I could find the words to thank all of you who participated in the celebration. The flowers were beautiful, the letter made me blush, and to knighted—what more could I ask! I love you all! Marion McAndrew

CORN MAZE, YANKEE CANDLE, BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANGS

Thanks to all who attended our Corn Maze Fundraiser in October and who purchased candles from the Yankee Candle Fundraiser that same month. Profits from these two amounted to about $1500 which went to pay back bills. We thank Jesus Savior Parish, Saint Robert Bellarmine, and St. Luke’s for their Baby Bottle Boomerang Campaigns for Woman to Woman in October and November. Thanks, too, to Maria Dadlez for her coordination of these.

BABY SAVED AT ABORTION CLINIC

In late October, Jane (not her real name) went to an abortion clinic in Providence to obtain an abortion of her fourth child. She was met by prolife sidewalk counselors who spoke to her and gave her literature. Confused and troubled, Jane returned home and phoned her sister in desperation. The sister Mary (not her real name), who had not known that Jane was pregnant, encouraged her to have the baby and said that she would help her. Mary contacted Woman to Woman through our email and asked if we might help find baby clothing and maternity clothing for Jane. With the help of Carol Owens at the Human Life Guild in Providence, Jane received two bags of maternity clothing and Woman to Woman provided two bags of baby clothing. Another woman is hosting a Christmas party in December and gifts will be given to Jane for her other three children, her unborn son, and herself. Mary asks prayers for Jane who sometimes does not have money pay her heating bills. We have referred Jane to the WIC program for food and to the Diocese of Providence for help with her heat. Woman to Woman will continue to provide baby clothing and baby care items to Jane as needed. Your support goes to help women like Jane and their babies. Thank you so very much.

PETREE HOUSE TOUR POSTPONED UNTIL 2009

Ruth Ann and Vincent Petree graciously agreed to host a home tour of their intriguing artificats, but the date will be in 2009 instead of this December, due to busyness around Christmas. We will keep you informed.

MONTHLY BENEFACTORS CRITICAL TO WOMAN TO WOMAN

Thanks to all who are currently monthly benefactors to Woman to Woman. Angela Barek has graciously volunteered to phone our supporters to increase our monthly benefactor base. Please consider saying "yes" when she calls. A suggested donation would be $30 per month, but any amount will be most graciously appreciated, even if it were $5 per month. We know that the economy is not good and that this may impact your contribution, but please try to give something. Remember, if you have less, the poor have less, too. If the economy continues to decline, we will see more and more clients at Woman to Woman. More and more people will come into the Good Shepherd Gift Shop, seeking prayers and encouragement. God asks us to serve Him in the needy, and becoming a monthly benefactor is one way to do that. We hope you will say "yes" when Angela calls you. What you give goes to serve Jesus in His distressing disguise of the poor, the unemployed, the needy, the pregnant mother, the single parent, the frightened teen, the unborn baby in danger of abortion. Only God knows how many babies your contributions have saved from abortion in the past 11 years through Woman to Woman Support Network. Please help us keep solvent! Donations can be postal mailed or made on line through http://www.womantowomansupport.net Thanks and may God bless you!
